Our History

Onondaga is proud of its history as one of Canada's oldest summer camps. We have many second and third generation campers who are carrying on the camping values that their grandparents started. We respect our history and build on it to keep our program exciting for the new generation of campers without losing the core camping values of independence, friendship and skill development.

Founded in 1918, Onondaga Camp is recognized as one of the foremost co-educational residential camps in Canada. Founded by Keith Crowler of Upper Canada College, it was owned and operated for many years by the late Meredith Brockwell of Ridley College. The Brockwells were succeeded first by the late Hadley Armstrong of Trinity College School and then by Nick Florian of Crescent School.

Onondaga is currently owned by David Hadden, the Head of Lakefield College School, and David Lever, a partner of McCarthy Tetrault, both former Directors of the Camp.
